Lucid is a minimalist timer app for macOS that floats above your workspace, giving you a clear sense of time without adding visual noise. Each timer lives in its own translucent window that you can move wherever it helps you most, staying visible while you work, create or rest.
Designed for macOS, Lucid feels at home alongside your other apps and adapts to different workflows with ease.
Made for people who work with time.
Lucid is for anyone who juggles tasks, breaks and routines throughout the day. Designers, developers, educators and students use it to keep track of focus sessions, meetings, workouts or even coffee brewing, without hiding the apps they care about.
Features
Time that floats.
Create translucent timers that hover above your workspace so you always see how much time is left. Each timer window can be placed exactly where you want it and stays on top without feeling intrusive.
Natural language input.
Set timers by typing the way you speak: “1 hr 20 min”, “25 min, or “45 sec”. Lucid understands and converts your words into precise timers, no dials or dropdowns needed.
Multiple timers working together.
Create as many timers as you need, each in its own floating window. Pause any timer when plans shift and resume when you are ready.
Use Cases
For presenters and workshop hosts.
Keep timers visible during talks or hands‑on sessions so you can manage segments and breaks without leaving your slides or demo.
For teachers and trainers.
Run separate timers for activities, Q&A and group work, each in its own window, so everyone stays aware of how much time is left.
For live coders and demo sessions.
Track coding segments, live debugging and short pauses with multiple timers that stay on top of your editor or simulator.
For focus and break rhythms.
Use floating timers to guide focus blocks and recovery breaks while your main apps stay full screen and distraction‑free.
Design Process
Lucid was designed around one idea: a timer should stay visible and helpful without competing with your work. Traditional timer apps often hide in the menu bar or live in a single fixed window. Lucid instead gives each timer its own lightweight, floating presence.
The interface focuses on clarity and motion. Translucent windows blend with the desktop, while typography and spacing keep the time readout easy to parse at a glance. Natural language input was introduced to reduce friction when setting timers, turning a common interaction into a simple sentence.
